Sadaqah Donation

A helping hand reaching out to people in need through Sadaqah

About This Project

Meet the needs of the poor with your Sadaqah and touch hearts with the blessing of sharing.

It is a precious good deed: a shield against hardship and misfortune, an atonement for sins and a means of salvation in the hereafter.

Every Sadaqah shared is a purification for the giver and a hope for the receiver.

About the Sadaqah Donation: Doing Good from Austria with Any Amount

A Sadaqah donation is a good deed given from the heart, with no fixed amount or time.

From Austria, you can get any amount you choose to people in need online in just a few minutes.

What is Sadaqah, and how does it differ from Zakat and Fitrah?

Zakat and Fitrah are obligatory (fard and wajib) acts of worship with specific conditions; Sadaqah, on the other hand, is a voluntary good deed.

  • Zakat: 2,5% of wealth that reaches the Nisab, once a year — on the Zakat donation page.
  • Fitrah: wajib charity per person in Ramadan — on the Fitrah donation page.
  • Sadaqah: the amount, timing and recipient are up to you; every good deed is Sadaqah.

In the Qur'an, those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah are likened to a seed that grows seven ears (Al-Baqarah 2/261).

To read more on the subject, see our guide to Sadaqah and Sadaqah Jariyah.

Where is your Sadaqah used?

General Sadaqah donations are directed to the areas where the need is greatest at the time:

  • Food parcel and hot meal distributions
  • Support for orphans and families in need
  • Basic needs in emergency and disaster areas

If you would like to support a specific area, you can also look at our donation projects and the Emergency Aid category.

When is Sadaqah given?

Sadaqah has no set time, but many people choose to give it at important moments in their lives:

  • In gratitude: after a blessing such as a new job, a home, a child or a recovery.
  • With the intention of healing: while praying for a sick loved one.
  • Before travelling: before setting off on a long journey.
  • For the deceased: as a good deed on behalf of a mother, father or loved one.
  • On Fridays and blessed nights: such as the Kandil nights and the last ten days of Ramadan.

Whatever your intention, the value of Sadaqah comes not from its amount but from giving it sincerely and regularly.

For those who wish to give Sadaqah in the form of a Qurbani, there are also thanksgiving, healing and Sadaqah Qurbani options; details in our article Nadhr, Aqiqah and Shukr Qurbani.

Sadaqah Jariyah: making good deeds last

Sadaqah Jariyah is a donation whose reward continues as long as its benefit lasts.

For example, a water well donation or a Qur'an donation counts as this kind of charity.
