Why a local charity in Innsbruck?

Giving is a matter of trust. Living in the same city as the organisation you send your money to makes that trust tangible.

Austria Yetim Eli was founded in Innsbruck in 2026 and is an association registered under Austrian association law. The founding team consists of volunteers who previously worked in the field with other humanitarian organisations.

The practical benefits of working with a local organisation are:

  • Accessibility: Our address is public: Salurnerstraße 1, 6020 Innsbruck. If you would like to meet in person, simply book an appointment in advance by phone or WhatsApp.
  • Communication in Turkish: You can discuss topics such as calculating Zakat, the proxy for Qurbani or receipts in your own language, without misunderstandings.
  • Quick replies: Via our WhatsApp line (+43 676 520 35 35) you get written answers to your questions – and you keep a record.
  • Payment suited to Austria: You can use the payment methods you are used to here, including EPS, which works with Austrian banks' online banking.

Donating from all over Tyrol: from Kufstein to Reutte

Tyrol is a large, mountainous province. If you live in Kufstein, Wörgl, Schwaz, Hall in Tirol, Telfs, Imst, Landeck or Reutte, you don't need to come to Innsbruck.

The entire donation process takes place online. There is no difference at all between a donation from outside the city and one from Innsbruck.

Practical tips by region

  • Unterland (Kufstein, Wörgl, Schwaz): If the family is donating together, the most practical way is for one person to fill the basket and make a single payment.
  • Around Innsbruck (Hall, Telfs, Zirl): If you have questions or would like to see documents, you can visit our office by appointment.
  • Oberland and Außerfern (Imst, Landeck, Reutte): Writing via WhatsApp is often easier than calling, especially for shift workers.
Note: If you would like to send donations collected at your mosque or association together, list who is giving what on whose behalf and send it to us via WhatsApp; we will check it together so that each Qurbani proxy is recorded correctly.

How to give Zakat from Innsbruck

Zakat is an obligatory act of worship (fard): 2,5% (one fortieth) is given from wealth that has reached the Nisab and been held for one lunar year.

The Nisab used by Diyanet (Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs) is 80,18 grams of gold. The savings remaining after deducting basic needs and debts are taken into account.

Worked example: a working family in Innsbruck

Example scenario: A family has €9.000 in savings in the bank, plus investment gold worth €2.000. They have no debts currently due.

  • Total zakatable assets: 9.000 + 2.000 = 11.000 €
  • Nisab check: if gold is ~€100 per gram, the Nisab is roughly €8.018; the assets are above the Nisab.
  • Zakat: 11.000 × 0,025 = 275 €

Because the gold price changes daily, calculate the euro value of the Nisab using the price on the day you pay. For the detailed method, see our guide to calculating Zakat in Austria.

Online Zakat step by step

  1. Open the Zakat donation page.
  2. Choose €20, €50, €100, €200 or €500, or enter the amount you calculated yourself.
  3. Add it to your basket and enter your name, email and phone number.
  4. Pay by Card / Online (Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, EPS) or PayPal.
  5. First you receive a thank-you email, and once the payment is confirmed, an email with your receipt.

If you are wondering who Zakat can be given to, our article the 8 categories of Zakat recipients explains the topic based on verse 60 of Surah at-Tawbah. If you are new to the subject, start with the guide What is Zakat?.

Qurbani donation from Innsbruck: slaughter by proxy

Many people living in Tyrol choose to have their Qurbani slaughtered by proxy (wakalah) in regions of need. That way the meat reaches families who truly need it.

Eid al-Adha 2027 (Diyanet calendar): Day of Arafah 15 May, Eid 16–19 May 2027. Completing your donation before Eid is important so that it makes it onto the slaughter list in time.

Qurbani prices by region (small animal / per person)

RegionSmall animalLarge animal (whole animal)
Africa100 €700 €
Yemen150 €1.050 €
Afghanistan150 €1.050 €
Asia150 €1.050 €
Syria175 €—
Lebanon175 €—
Palestine250 €—
Türkiye250 €2.650 €

A large animal is divided into at most 7 shares. In Palestine the meat is delivered canned or frozen.

What to consider when donating Qurbani

  • Choose the type of Qurbani: Wajib (Eid), Nadhr (vow), Aqiqah, Shukr (thanksgiving), Shifa (for healing) or Sadaqah Qurbani.
  • State on whose behalf it is to be slaughtered: This information is the basis of the proxy; the form requires it.
  • With more than one Qurbani you can enter each one on behalf of a different person or give them all on behalf of the same person.
  • Enter your phone number correctly: The slaughter video is sent via WhatsApp in Türkiye and by SMS in other regions.

You can read about the religious aspect of the proxy in our article Qurbani by proxy, and about all regions and the process in the guide Qurbani donation from Austria 2027. All options are on the Qurbani projects page.

Sadaqah and Sadaqah Jariyah: lasting good from Tyrol

Sadaqah has no set time and no minimum. On our website you can give Sadaqah in amounts starting from €10.

For those who want their good deed to have an effect for years, Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) projects stand out:

If you would like to support orphans regularly, monthly orphan sponsorship is €50/month (6 months €300, yearly €600). For details, see our article Sadaqah and Sadaqah Jariyah.

Fitrah and Fidyah: Ramadan 2027 from Tyrol

In 2027, the first day of Ramadan is 8 February, and Eid al-Fitr is on 9–11 March 2027.

Fitrah (Zakat al-Fitr) on our website is €15 per person and must be delivered before the Eid prayer. This is the minimum amount announced by Diyanet for Europe for 2026; some organisations in Austria may announce different amounts.

Worked example: for a family of 5 living in Hall in Tirol, Fitrah comes to 5 × €15 = €75.

For those who cannot fast for health reasons, Fidyah is €15 per day; €450 for 30 days.

More details: Fitrah 2027 in Austria, fasting Fidyah and the Ramadan 2027 donation guide.

Sample donation plan for families in Tyrol

Many families think about Zakat, Fitrah and Qurbani separately over the year. Yet a little planning both prevents forgetting and eases the budget.

Example scenario: a family of 4 in Schwaz

Suppose the family has calculated €275 in Zakat, as in the example above. They want to give Zakat and Fitrah during Ramadan, and a Wajib Qurbani in May.

WhenDonationAmount
February 2027 (start of Ramadan)Zakat275 €
March 2027 (before the Eid prayer)Fitrah: 4 people × €1560 €
May 2027 (before the Day of Arafah)Wajib Qurbani, Africa100 €
Total435 €

You can pay Zakat and Fitrah together during Ramadan in a single basket. Qurbani is given separately, with the region and proxy details.

Support all year round

Some families add a regular good deed alongside their religious obligations. For example, orphan sponsorship is €50 a month and contributes to an orphan's needs all year round.

In the winter months emergency aid projects come to the fore, and in Ramadan the Ramadan campaign.

Payment methods for donating from Tyrol

Does it make a difference if I donate from Kufstein or Landeck?

No. Wherever you are in Tyrol or Austria, the process is the same: choose the project, add it to your basket, pay online and receive your receipt by email.
